China; 1856, Yr.6, silver coin Tael, K900, LM589, Issued by Wang Yung Sheng and engraved by Wan Chaun, Obv. Cake of standard silver from the business firm of Wang Yung Sheng in the Shanghai district in the 6th year of Emperor Hsien Feng 1856. Rev. Made by Wan Chuan, silversmith. Supervised by Chow Yuen Yu. Exact weight one Tsaoping Tael. AU.(1) PCGS AU50. Note: In 1856, the Shanghai authorities authorized silversmiths to issue coinage in an attempt to replace the Spanish 8 Reales. The firms Wong Yung Sheng, Ching Cheng Chee and Yu Shen Sheng were granted permission to issue coinage in the denominations of one Tael and 5 Mace. The coins were struck, and the quality satisfactory, but unfortunately, many counterfeits began to appear and within approximately 6 months these issues were withdrawn from the market.
จีน ปีค.ศ.1856 ปีที่6 เหรียญเนื้อเงินชนิดราคา ตำลึง K900, LM589 ออกโดย Wang Yung Sheng แกะสลักโดย Wan Chaun ด้านหน้าตัวอักษรจีน 4 แถว ระบุผู้ผลิต “Wang Yung Sheng” เขตเซี่ยงไฮ้ ในปีที่6 แห่งรัชสมัยจักรพรรดิเสียนเฟิง ด้านหลังตัวอักษรจีน 4 แถว ระบุช่างฝีมือผู้สลักตัวอักษร “Wan Chuan” และน้ำหนักเงิน 1 ตำลึง สภาพ AU.(1) PCGS AU50 ในปีค.ศ.1856 ทางการเซี่ยงไฮ้ได้อนุญาตให้ช่างฝีมือผลิตเหรียญเพื่อใช้ทดแทนเหรียญชนิดราคา 8 เรียลของประเทศสเปน โดยมี 3 บริษัทได้แก่ บริษัท Wong Yung Sheng บริษัท Ching Cheng Chee และบริษัท Yu Shen Sheng ได้รับมอบหมายให้ทำการผลิตเหรียญในหน่วยเงิน 2 หน่วยเงิน ได้แก่ ชนิดราคา 1 ตำลึงและชนิดราคา 5 เมส แต่เนื่องจากมีการผลิตไม่สามารถผลิตได้มากเท่าความต้องการของตลาด อีกทั้งพบเหรียญปลอมแปลงออกมาเป็นจำนวนมาก ทำให้เหรียญรุ่นนี้ออกใช้ในระยะเวลาสั้นๆ ประมาณ 6 เดือนเท่านั้นและถูกยกเลิกไปในทีสุด
